We are so grateful that John Bathurst (with Compass) was our agent in our first home purchase! John is a valuable agent because he is uniquely knowledgeable and well connected in the South Bay, likely because hes been living and working in this area for decades. Whenever we mentioned we were working with John at open houses, agents almost always knew him, and when they did, they noted that we were in good hands. This knowledge base proved valuable for several reasons in helping us successfully find our home in Redondo Beach. John knew the local market well, including the trends by specific neighborhoods, and was pretty quickly able to zero in on the types of homes in which we were ultimately interested. The home we ultimately bought was one John suggested to us before it was even on the market (which he did with other exclusive listings as well). When it came to buying our home, John had a good relationship with the selling agent (as he often did) and brought us in for a tour before their first open house. Based on his experience and relationship, John was able to provide helpful counsel in our bidding strategy, such that when we submitted our final bid (against several other counter-offers) we were ultimately successful. During the closing process, he remained a valuable resource, which was important to us as first time buyers. We were in constant communication, and he answered our numerous questions and we always felt like we had a teammate. He coordinated the inspections with reliable partners and made recommendations for 3rd parties like mortgage brokers, painters, and handymen. We are so grateful we worked with John. He was patient, collaborative, and warm. We were excited to get a celebratory drink with him after we closed!

John wasnt just our real estate agent, he was a true partner and friend in our home-buying journey. John made the whole buying process no pressure and stress-free. We were new to the area and werent even sure what neighborhood we wanted to seriously look at. John took the time to understand our needs, preferences and budget. I really didn't know what it meant to have an incredible agent until we worked with John. We met and were working with another friend yet still John patiently followed up and checked in. He persevered tirelessly and it became clear he was THE MAN. John is not pushy (which i love). He is direct (zero BS), and you absolutely feel how others respect him. We met John on May 9 and within 5 weeks we moved into the new house. In short - he was way above our expectations. The first time we met, it felt like we know him for a long time, like he's our long time friend. And this is because of his efficiency, ability to listen and to understand our needs, taste, personality, so the list of good could go on and on. He gave us right advice, but wasn't pushy, it was so easy to make a choice and not to get lost. That's why it wasn't difficult to find what we want and to buy it (it took only 2 days !). We even got financial advice right away, in the car, on a phone call while driving to another destination. It was amazing to see how all can work so perfect when the right person is doing the right job and doing it so well. We are so impressed and pleased. And even after we moved in to new house John directed us to contractors, excellent painters (their crew painted all house in 2 days). Also with his help we sold our previous house in a couple days. Always remember that for buying a house we don't only need a good talker but a good listener is very important and John is the best at that, he understands and makes sure that he meets our requirement of house at the first place and he does enough homework beforehand. As a 1st time home buyer in an expensive area, it's tough not to just pick the right house but the right broker. The SouthBay has dozens of them but I found the best one by far (referred by a happy client)....John Bathurst is a 5 star top notch broker from soup to nuts. John is not just a broker, but a local educator/mentor/expert who advises you through the entire process.....location, what you get for the money (short time and long term), tours, recommending the right vendor partners (movers, loan agents, banks, etc), how to pick the perfect place to fit your needs, how to get the highest/lowest price, how to close the deal, etc. He holds your hand through the entire process from start to finish, so nothing gets dropped.
