We couldnt have asked for a better agent to work with on selling our home. Eugene and the entire team at Courtney + Kurt were amazing throughout the entire process. From our initial meeting with Eugene and Kurt we knew we were in the hands of professionals who appreciated the unique value of our neighborhood and our home.Professional, friendly, and down-to-earth, Eugene provided extensive knowledge and resources as he guided us through each step of the selling processaEUR"determining the best listing price, preparing for showings and inspections, and accepting an offer. From beginning to end it was clear (and very reassuring) that our best interests were at the center of all Eugene and the C+K team did to find new owners for our home.We highly recommend Eugene!
Eugene is the best! Selling our house was an emotional process to say the least, but Eugene was there to help us every step of the way, and was always available to talk to us either on the phone or in person, to talk us off of whatever ledge we happened to be out on that day. Everything he said he was going to do, he did. Everything he said was going to happen, happened. He asked us what our "magic number" was for our home sale - and then he got us that number! Wouldn't dream of not calling Eugene the next time we are buying or selling a house in Los Angeles. Just an all around pleasant experience working with him and the rest of the AMAZING team at Courtney & Kurt Realty! Thank you Eugene! Thank you C&K!!!
Eugenes extensive knowledge of the market area and connections allowed him to time the listing and sale of our house expertly--with multiple offers well over asking and exceeding our expectations. Hes a skillful negotiator that you want on your side! We first met the C+K team while looking for our house in northeast LA two years ago. We loved a number of their properties but, because they get so many offers, we lost out. We eventually found a home weve loved for the past few years. When we realized COVID-19 meant we werent going to be going back to the office anytime soon and we had the freedom to go wherever we pleased, we contacted C+K. We knew we wanted them on our side this time! Kurt and Eugene hopped on a call with me to talk about the market, then came to our house to give us an honest assessment of our options and expectations. As soon as we decided we were ready to sell, Eugene and their designer, Jane, determined what we needed to do and sent an awesome handyman to do to the few repairs. Jane, Eugene, and the photographer created stellar marketing materials and all we had to do was not mess it up for the showings. Eugene scheduled showings, with very little interruption to us, garning numerous offers. Eugene had met and spent time with almost everyone who looked at our house and guided us through picking the best offer, well above listing price and exceeding our expectations. With Eugene and Steve handling the closing, it was a breeze. What could have been a major derailment was handled quickly and competently.Well be calling C+K when we return to LA!
Working with Alyssa Valentine from Courtney and Kurt was the best decision we could have made when we decided to sell our duplex in Atwater Village. Given the personal changes in our lives and the home we raised our children in, she immediately knew how to make us feel at ease and confident in our decision to move forward and at the same time maximize the sale of our property. After our initial discussions she offered us the concierge program from Compass; an *interest free* loan to cosmetically fix up our place and reveal its true potential in the great home we already knew it was. Alyssa provided us with a point person (Jane Summers) from the office whose specific expertise was to assist us through the concierge cosmetic upgrades on our home. Jane was instrumental in guiding us through this process by providing us with a checklist and timeline so we could visualize what we needed to do in the time frame it needed to get done before putting our home on the market. When it finally came time to sell, Alyssas attention to detail in every selling point of our property was marketed perfectly. Considering the market in the fall season, the turnout was substantial for the 3 scheduled open houses that we had. We immediately had an offer on our home. This is a testament to Alyssas professionalism and experience in the Atwater Village area and the reason why we chose her as our selling agent. In the final sale of our home, Alyssas confidence and professionalism (including the concierge program she introduced to us) exceeded our expectations in the return we received for our property. We completely recommend Alyssa Valentine as your selling agent if you live in Atwater Village or any of the surrounding neighborhoods of Los Angeles. We are confident it couldnt have been a more pleasurable experience with any other agent.Matt DeMelloAimee Macauley
Eugene & the whole team are a dream. We sold a duplex in Atwater Village and they helped us through the whole process (from inception to sale & beyond!) They have great communication & unparalleled expertise. Jane ran point for our renovations + staging, Steve had all the paperwork flying along, and Eugene + Kurt slayed our showings & sales. They made the often trying process of home buying/selling a breeze. We would highly recommend this crew to anyone looking to buy or sell in LA.
As a first-time home buyer, I honestly wasn't even sure it was possible to purchase a home in LA. Friends of mine looked for months and months, most over a year, to find something. The process always seemed incredibly daunting and the LA market is terrifying, let's be real. All my thoughts dramatically changed when we started working with Susie at Courtney + Kurt. Susie is so easy to connect with and she applies zero pressure. I felt so comfortable chatting with Susie about my concerns and ideas and she was always available to listen and offer advice. I can't tell you how many times we changed our minds about something and Susie would just say "no problem, let's move on". Susie really took the time to make sure we were happy with our purchase and felt comfortable with every step of the way. She is amazing and exactly the person you want helping you in this process. In the end, we found the perfect place that instantly felt like home, all thanks to Susie. While I hope we don't move again any time soon, Susie would be my first call.
You won't find a better real estate professional agent in L.A. than Eugene. I can't put it more simply than that. He is honest, transparent, efficient and realistic. A real straight shooter who has built a solid reputation for himself and for Courtney and Kurt over two decades.
I cannot recommend working with Anselm or the Courtney + Kurt agency. Most importantly, as a first time home buyer, I did not feel that Anselm looked out for or protected my best interests. I have several specific examples:Although I was depending on him, he never once raised any concerns about a single property I looked at. When I brought this up with him after the fact, his response was that I had good taste. Likewise, with the property I bought, I also specifically asked if the area south of Pico was as good of an area as north of it. He responded that, from the ten+ offers on the property, it obviously was. It has quickly become clear that it is not. In negotiations over seller concessions for repairs, he also repeatedly told me that I was asking for too MUCH, urging me to drop several or lower several repair requests. This, after he encouraged a bid 150k over asking. On the inspection front, he recommended an inspector whose license had been suspended. I discovered this only after I was unsatisfied with work and began looking into the people he had recommended, necessitating a scramble for new inspections before the contractual deadline. I've also now discovered that extensive electrical work-- never mentioned by any of the inspectors-- is recommended.Separately, I also found Anselm to be lazy. Although I told him about a number of open houses I wanted to attend, he attended a grand total of three with me. If the open houses were not in areas that were convenient for him, he would not attend and leave me to go alone. He now says that a lot of his clients prefer to go on their own and not have him hovering; that's fine, but I specifically asked him on multiple occasions and he still did not attend. Of those he did attend, two were listings from his own agency (one of his wife) and the last was the property I ultimately bought. I believe the only property listing he ever proactively sent me were ones from his agency.I found Anselm because I was initially looking at Silver Lake and Courtney + Kurt had great reviews for the area. When I called the agency, I asked to be paired with their most aggressive agent. They recommended Anselm and told me he was one of their highest producing agents, which he also later described himself as. When I asked a friend to look him up on MLS, however, it did not attribute very many sales to him. You can draw your own conclusions from that.I am now considering legal action.
Eugene is a member of the Kurt&Courtney team. They are probably the best realtors that I have ever encountered in all of my home purchase/sales experience. Having bought and sold a few homes, I found them to be exceptional in their approach and their professionalism, something that is rare to find these days in Los Angeles where every Tom, Dick and Harry hangs out their realtor signs and endeavors to get your business. To show you just how exceptional they were, we signed with them on a Wednesday and two days later we had an offer that was $70K higher than our asking price. We sold our property before it even got listed on the MLS and it was in need of repair, etc. It was no way pristine. These guys were ready to come in with their cameras, photoshoot the place and prepare a listing on the MLS but as I stated, we sold it before they could ever do any of that. Not only that but they had given us a backup offer in the event that the current escrow went south as these deals sometime do. Nonetheless, we closed escrow about 4 weeks later without incident. The biggest hassle was the City of LA actually since we had to retrofit seismic gas meters, fire and Carbon Monoxide detectors, etc.
We had an amazing experience working with Alyssa, and felt that we were in terrific hands during the entire selling process. Alyssa and her team worked like a well-oiled machine, and at every step of the way there was someone there to support us.We received expert advice on how to stage our home to attract more buyers, how to identify the right selling price for our neighborhood, and how to negotiate the multiple offers we received during the bidding process. In addition, it was clear that Alyssa (and Courtney + Kurt Real Estate) are well known and respected amongst their peers, which helps tremendously in an industry where trust and relationships can go a long way.The whole process went as smoothly as we could have hoped, and we were thrilled by the outcome. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend Alyssa to our closest friends and family!
I really can't say enough good things about my experience. We sold our condo with the team at Kurt and Courtney and bought our new home as well. I honestly can't think of anything they could have done to improve the experience. Selling the condo met our expectations completely, we got our goal price. And although we didn't have an enormous amount to spend on buying a home they were totally on board and determined to find us something. We found an amazing home for the price we wanted and Blake artfully managed the smooth sale. Everyone at Kurt and Courtney was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, responsive and nice. Feel very lucky to have found them.
It was a pleasure working with Susie from Courney + Kurt. Super professional and friendly. We found our dream home in a surprising short amount of time. There were a couple of hiccups with the seller and listing agent, but Susie was there by our side fighting for us. We are now happy home owners of a beautiful house! We are grateful to have such a wonderful agent and highly recommend her and her team!
Susie was the the most fantastic agent, continually trekking the extra mile for my husband and me as we travelled the rocky road of buying a house in LA. In this sellers' market you need someone who will be patient as you search for your home, assertive in negotiations, highly informed about the market, and well-connected with other brokerages and vendors. Susie is all this without any of the fakeness and sales pressure that realtors are sometimes known for. She's so friendly, funny, and intelligent--i.e. someone you actually want to spend time with. In fact, all the members of Kurt and Courtney's team who helped us in the process were lovely to deal with and knowledgable. In a tough market, Susie went the distance--meeting us at house after house at all sorts of last minute hours--to get us into our beautiful home. I'm basically jumping up and down as I recommend her! She's just the best.
Up until a few months ago, buying a house in Los Angeles was something my husband and I talked about, but never thought would happen for us. Everything wed been hearing about the market here seemed to be true, and on top of that, we were intimidated and overwhelmed by how much we didnt know. But then we met Susie Park. After an underwhelming experience with a previous realtor, my husband James had found Susie through real estate group Courtney + Kurt. Being completely unseasoned in the world of home buying and mortgage lender terminology, we really needed someone to guide us through the unknown, and hold our proverbial hands through the process. Susie did not disappoint. From our very first email exchange, my husband and I knew immediately that Susie would be the one whod help us buy our first home. Despite her own demanding schedule, she always made herself available to us through text messages or a quick call to answer the dozens of questions we had (especially the ridiculous questions that she genuinely assured us were never ridiculous.) She helped us navigate the Compass app to search and bookmark for new listings, and quickly understood what we were looking for. We knew she was definitely on top of her game and never missed a beat when it came to communicating with listing agents and keeping us in the loop. A sign of a great agent is someone who continually educates, anticipates, and most importantly, keeps their clients focused and positive. Even at the most stressful of times - hello, ESCROW?? - it was such a relief to have someone who never stopped working with us, someone who continually stayed by our side. Not many people can say that their home buying experience was a seamless one, but we definitely lucked out with Susie. We felt like she really got us. She demystified the entire process, quelled every fear and neurotic thought we had, and in turn, my husband and I became more relaxed and confident about our approach. We learned that every home has unlimited potential, and the more houses she took us to see, the easier it became to differentiate between a good house and the *right* house. During this stressful and emotional journey, James and I realized that we had found a great friend in Susie. Shed seen us at our most harried and vulnerable, and became our beacon when we faced countless moments of uncertainty. Without her, we wouldn't have felt encouraged to cross the terrifying threshold between home buying and home owning. And to tell the truth, we are a little sad to see it end! We often wonder if the three of us would still be group texting on the regular and hanging out at open houses on the weekends if Susie wasnt so great at her job. But it just goes to show that Susie loves what she does, and brings not only experience and professionalism, but patience, and generosity. I sincerely hope there are others on their way to a positive home buying experience like ours, but if not, Susie Park and her team at Courtney + Kurt is a great place to start.
I chose Courtney and Kurt to sell my house in Atwater Village when I finally decided to say good-bye to Los Angeles. I had an almost impossible task ahead of me: to sell the house in LA while having a very tight repair budget, to find a new place yo buy out of state, and to time the sale and the purchase to happen simultaneously. I knew that it would be difficult to pull off and was considering some backup options in case something did not work out the way I hoped. I met with Kurt and Eugene a few months before the house was to go on the market and felt very comfortable with my choice. I cannot say enough good things about Eugene. This is not an exaggeration aEUR" it would be difficult for anyone to surpass the kind of commitment, attention, involvement, care, and kindness that I received. From day one I felt that everything would be taken care of and they delivered tenfold aEUR" and my little house sold for well over the asking price. When I was having problems with my absentee buying agent in another state, Eugene stepped in and coordinated everything between the agent, the escrow company in LA, and the title company. We were able to close on both homes on the same day. He called several times even after we closed to check in and see how everything was going. Thank you, Eugene. I am so grateful.
I cannot recommend Courtney + Kurt enough. They both rock, but this organization is so much more than the two of them. They have assembled a team, the likes for which, I have never experienced. From the get go, they were thorough in their communication, and their strategy, and then followed through at 110%. It is such a complete pressure cooker situation to be in when you're preparing, selling, and then moving house - and this team, never once, put additional pressure on my shoulders. We were challenged several times as well with the process, and I truly believe that had I not gone with them, I would not have had the very generous offers (15 offers, thanks to them) and WELL above asking price. They walk their talk, and are consummate professionals. Impeccable taste in their styling, seemingly effortless in their experienced approach...and a heck of a lot of fun to be around - I only wish I had another home to sell so I could work with them again ;-).
We recently had the pleasure of working with Luciana Brancorsini at Courtney and Kurt Realestate in Atwater Village. We needed her assistance in showing and interviewing prospective tenants for our Glassell Park Tri-Plex. Luciana was great! She was very professional and thorough. (Luciana even handled the delivery of a new refrigerator for the unit)With Lucianas input, we found a great tenant. I would definitely recommend her.
